A Legendary Band:
Formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal, Tears For Fears quickly became a defining force in the synth-pop movement of the 1980s. The band’s debut album, The Hurting (1983), topped the UK Albums Chart, featuring hits like “Mad World,” “Change,” and “Pale Shelter.” Their breakthrough second album, Songs from the Big Chair (1985), brought them international fame, with chart-topping singles “Shout” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” These tracks became anthems of the decade, solidifying their place in music history.
After a period of separation, the duo reunited in 2000 and have continued to create and perform music, including their 2022 album, The Tipping Point, which reached the Top 10 in numerous countries and marked their highest chart peak in 30 years. Their enduring legacy was celebrated in 2021 when they were honored with the Ivor Novello Award for ‘Outstanding Song Collection,’ recognizing their era-defining albums and innovative hit singles.
